Wood industry cluster in Galicia in figures

The Wood Industry Cluster in Galicia (Cluster da Madeira de Galicia- CMA) gathers together companies and agents linked to the value chain of wood: forestry exploitation, sawmills, plywood and hardboard companies, and carpentry, furniture businesses and service providers.

The CMA has been awarded the “Gold Label,” the highest acknowledgement of excellence in Cluster management on an international level.

Galicia leads the forestry sector in Spain and it is the ninth in the world. 50% of the wood cut in Spain comes from Galician forests. The Galician industry is pioneering in the development of products on a national and international level.

The CMA has developed over a hundred projects in all fields of the industry to improve the competitiveness of the companies in the sector and it participates in the Foro de la Biomasa forestal (Forest Biomass Forum), a clean, economical and local energy resource. Galicia has sufficient production capacity to meet the demand for this biofuel, of which 140,000 tonnes are produced annually.
